School of Open Learning hikes cut-off marks to 40 per cent

Students seeking admission in the under graduate courses in the School of Open Learning (SOL), Delhi University for the academic session 2013-14 will require a minimum of 40 per cent average marks to be eligible for admission. University authorities refused to inform about the cut-off score for last year, but said it was less than 40 per cent. The pass percentage for CBSE class XII examination is 33 per cent.

A senior DU official ,on condition of anonymity, said ‘There will be no admission in SOL for those who have scored below 40 per cent. For courses like BA and B Com,we had sent a proposal to the Delhi University admission committee to make it easier for students by reducing the cut off marks from 40 per cent and above, but the committee stuck to the 40 per cent criteria instead of the 39 per cent we had asked for.’
Students might have to face difficulties in getting admission to Political Science (Honours), English (Honours) and B.Com (Honours), as the cut-off percentage for admission to these courses have gone up.

The new cut-offs for Political Science (Honours) will be 50 per cent and above, B Com (Honours) will be 55 per cent and above and English (Honours) will be 60 per cent and above.
The admission process in SOL had started on 27 May and admission forms are available both on line and off line.
The last date of submission of forms is 14 August and students who miss the deadline can still submit the forms between 16 August to 2 September by paying  a late fee of Rs 200.
