School had no security guard, CCTVS

Mother Convent School situated in east Delhi's west Vinod Nagar, from where the murdered siblings were abducted, have neither CCTV cameras on the main gate, nor any guards.

The school principal preferred standing at the gate when school closed for the day, rather than appointing a security guard to keep a tab on the visitors who picked up their respective children.

Rahul Kumar, Principal of Mother convent School said, 'Every day when the final bell of the school rings, I come out and keep a tab on each child and who they are leaving with.

On the day of kidnapping, one person who was not unknown  to the students came to pick them up. The children recognized him and addressed him as uncle  which is why we had allowed him to take them.'

Prabhakar, deputy commissioner of police (east) said, 'the school's liability will be decided on the basis of merits. So far no case has been registered against the school.'

However, soon after the incident, the school authorities have installed two CCTV camera at the main gate.

And they are planning to keep a security guard as well.

'There must be some identity card or something given by the school to all the parents who must show that card while picking up their children. If any parent fails to do so then the child should not be handed over to the person,' Krishna, a parent said.
