SC slams ministers for their comments against verdict on Section 377

The Supreme Court on Friday said statements made by some union ministers over its judgment on section 377 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) is unwarranted and not in good taste. The court cautioned them from doing so in future.

An apex court bench of Chief Justice P Sathasivam and Justice Ranjan Gogoi was hearing a PIL filed by a Delhi resident Purushotham Mulloli seeking removal of the ministers for allegedly making contemptuous remarks.

After going through the statements annexed in a PIL seeking action against the Ministers, the bench said the remarks made against the verdict are not appreciable.

‘We agree that some of the statements made are not in good taste. They are holding high post and they have a responsibility,’ the bench said.
