SC questions DU on steps for disabled in FYUP

The Supreme Court on Monday asked Delhi University to state what steps it has taken to address the grievances of physically disabled students in the four-year undergraduate degree courses to be implemented from this year.

An apex court bench of justice BS Chauhan and justice Dipak Misra directed senior counsel VP Singh, appearing for Delhi University, to file an affidavit stating what the grievances were and 'what you are providing them’.

Adjourning the matter till 29 May (Wednesday), the court said it would issue directives if it was not convinced by the university’s reply.

The NGO Sambhavna had moved the Supreme Court.

Delhi University is to implement the four-year undergraduate programme from its next academic session in July this year.
