They drove him around the Capital for hours, thrashed him and dropped him near the Peeragarhi flyover. Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the IPC.
According to police sources, on Saturday night, Supreme Court lawyer Vijay Kumar had gone out for a party with his friends in an up-scale lounge in the posh South-Extension market. After dropping Kumar, his driver Ravi Dubey drove off nearby to park the Audi Q7 car.
At around 11.30 pm, Kumar called his driver Ravi Dubey and asked him to bring the car near the lounge. When Dubey was about to reach the South-Extension market lounge, a group of six men stopped him on the pretext of asking for directions.
When Dubey rolled down the window, one of them pointed a gun at him and asked him to get down and sit in the back seat.
In the meantime, the group of men got inside the car and drove around the city for more than six hours. In the early hours of Sunday, the accused threw Dubey near Peeragarhi flyover and fled with the luxury car, sources added.
According to the driver’s version, he could not find a parking space near the lounge in South-Extension market so he took the car to park it some distance away. Sources further added that when Dubey did not come near the lounge, the lawyer called on his mobile phone which was switched off.
Based on this, Kumar made the PCR call and informed the local police of the entire incident.
According to the sources, they are analysing the CCTV footage of the area to ascertain the identity of the culprits as well as to establish the exact sequence of events.
