The Supreme Court on Tuesday asked Jammu & Kashmir chief secretary to file a detailed affidavit on communal clashes in Kishtwar district and steps taken by the state government to control the situation.
The court was hearing a PIL which sought direction to the government to provide safe passage to the pilgrims stranded there due to curfew in Kishtwar to enable them to return home. The court directed the chief secretary to file the affidavit by 21 August.
A bench headed by Chief Justice P Sathasivam, Justice Ranjana Desai and Justice Ranjan Gogoi said the state government is taking action and it cannot be said that it is sitting mum.
