Saying it with khadi

Khadi is said to be the way of life. With an attempt to make Khadi youth centric, a festival titled Khadi Utsav was organised in the Colleges of Delhi University. The objective of the event was to connect youth specially students with Khadi.
Khadi Utsav was organised at Shri Ram College of Commerce, University of Delhi and Law Centre -1, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi. On this occasion that took place on 31 March, Khadi Paridhan Utsav (fashion show), quiz competition, and nukad natak (street play) on PMEGP scheme focusing on unemployed youth who can take up self employment were held.
Hi-fashion readymade khadi garments designed by professionals’ designers and exclusive village industry products were also be displayed at the exhibition held.
BH Anil Kumar, Chief Executive officer/Commissioner, KVIC inaugurated the programme. KS Rao Dy. Chief Executive officer along with Ashvani Kumar Bansal, Head & Dean, Law Faculty also accompanied the dignitaries on the occasion.
Khadi cloth is primarily woven from Hemp and may also include silk, or wool, which are all spun into yarn on a spinning wheel called a charkha. It is a versatile fabric, cool in summer and warm in winter. In order to improve the look, khadi is sometimes starched to give it a stiffer feel. It is widely accepted in fashion circles.Â
The broad objectives of KVIC is providing employment. The economic objective of KVIC is producing saleable articles and the wider objective of creating self-reliance amongst the poor and building up of a strong rural community spirit.
