SAR Geelani released from jail

Delhi University lecturer SAR Geelani, who was arrested in a case of sedition last month, was released from Tihar jail on Monday. “Geelani left the jail premises around 8.40 PM. His relatives and lawyer had come to receive him,” a senior official said. He was lodged in jail number 1 in Tihar, the official said. A court on Monday issued the warrant for the release of Geelani. He had been granted bail last week. 

However, his release from Tihar Central jail was delayed as his permanent address in J&K, 

mentioned in his bail bond, could not be verified.
