Samsung’s Galaxy S-III to hit India soon

The much-awaited Samsung Galaxy S-III smartphone, which was unveiled on Friday in London, is expected to hit the Indian markets soon.

The Galaxy S-III model would be available in the European market towards the end of the current month and subsequently in the other parts of the globe from June onwards, Samsung Electronics president and head of IT and mobile communications division J K Shin said.

The price of the device, touted as the latest rival to the iPhone, has not yet been disclosed.

Samsung Galaxy S-III runs on the latest Android operating system 4.0 and comes with a 4.8-inch screen, bigger than its highly successful predecessor Galaxy S-II.

The phone packs a bunch of interesting features like ‘smart stay’, in which the device recognises when you are looking at the phone and maintains a bright display for continued viewing pleasure.

It also introduces ‘pop up play’ feature which allows user to watch an HD video on the phone while sending an email or text simultaneously.

‘Designed to be both effortlessly smart and intuitively simple, the Galaxy S III has been created with our human needs and capabilities in mind. What makes me most proud is that it enables one of the most seamless, natural and human-centric mobile experiences, opening up a new horizon that allows you to live a life extraordinary,’ Shin added.

He, however, did provide any figures on the company’s sales target of the phone.
