Days after a 64-year-old retired government employee from Kerala was found murdered in his third floor flat at Samachar Apartments in East Delhi’s Mayur Vihar Phase-I Extension, Delhi Police on late Friday arrested a 25-year-old woman in connection with the elderly man’s murder. Investigators said that in 2014, the accused woman, looking for a job, got in touch with Vijay Kumar, the victim, who used to work in CGHS through another woman.
On the pretext of providing her a suitable job, Kumar allegedly sexually exploited her and even made an MMS of her on the basis of which, he blackmailed her and continually raped her.
Meanwhile, police sources said that taking advantage of the fact that other family members of Kumar were not at home during the day, Kumar along with two of his friends used to allegedly call the accused woman at Samachar Apartments where they committed atrocities with her.
On July 20, Vijay Kumar was found stabbed to death by his daughter, Ambali, who works as a senior producer in the Rajya Sabha TV. Preliminary police investigations suggested that the accused was known to Kumar as there were reportedly lipstick marks on the tea cups found at Kumar’s flat.
Investigators further said in one of the CCTV footage, they found a woman entering the Samachar Apartments premises on the day of the incident at around 10 am and saw her leaving the residential complex two hours later carrying an LED TV.
Police said that they showed around the CCTV grab of the woman to the family members and neighbours of Kumar but they did not identify the woman. Cops also checked the register maintained at the entry gate but found no one visited Kumar’s house.
Investigators said that it was only when the Call Detail Records (CDR) of Kumar were being verified that they came to know that Kumar was allegedly in touch with a woman.
