Salwan case: Police send Rajat’s heart tissues for pathology test

Days after 15-year-old Rajath Menon was allegedly beaten to death by two juveniles in Mayur Vihar Phase 3, Delhi Police have sent Rajat’s heart tissues for pathology test to ascertain the exact cause of death, said sources.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police maintained that there were no external injuries on his body. They, however, said doctors have preserved the viscera samples of the 15-year-old boy and are awaiting the reports to establish exact cause of death.

“During inquiry, we found out through the birth certificates of the accused that the elder of the two accused is 18 years of age. His name is Alok,” said Rishi Pal, DCP (East). Police added that they have written to the Juvenile Justice Board to consider the other accused who is 16 years old and is Alok’s brother to be considered as an adult since he was aware of the consequences of committing the crime. Sources said that cops suspect that Rajat died due to cardiac arrest. According to a police officer privy to the investigation: “We are waiting for the report of the viscera samples. It will become clear from the report since there are times when the capillaries get chocked due to sudden shock which lead to cardiac arrest.”

On Wednesday evening, Rajat, a Class XI student of Salwan Public School had gone out with his three friends when he was allegedly beaten by the son of the tea-kiosk over a minor issue. The juveniles dragged Rajat to a nearby park where they beat him.

Once he lost consciousness, they took him to a private clinic and then to a another hospital and finally to Lal Bahadur Shastri hospital where he was declared brought dead.
