Salwan case: Kin of dead student to march for justice

According to the relatives, they are planning to organise it at 3 pm from A1 park, Mayur Vihar Phase III opposite Community Centre.Titled ‘Justice for Rajath Menon’, the family is distributing posters to seek justice for the murder of their child.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police going by the preliminary medical reports claim that Rajat died due to cardiac arrest or shock. As a part of the investigation into the murder of Rajat Menon, cops found out that out of the two juveniles who allegedly beat Rajat, one of them has been found to be an adult. While going through their birth certificates, police found that one of them is an adult, sources said.

Sources further added that going by what the police found in the initial investigation, police are applying to the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) to consider the accused found by them to be adult and send them to Tihar Jail.

Meanwhile, family and close relatives of Rajat met the DCP, East district, to know the progress of the investigation.

“The paan-seller, father of the acused, is involved in illegal activities. They sell cannabis and other such contrabands to the people openly in the market. Authorities should take strict action against them,” said Laxmikant, Rajat’s uncle.

On Friday, BJP leader Satish Upadhyay visited the family of the 15-year-old boy to give condolence. On Saturday too, many politicians such as senior Congress leader A K Antony made a beeline outside Menon’s house to pay a visit to the grieving family.
