Salwan case: Cops maintain boy died of cardiac arrest in the fight

A day after Delhi Police apprehended two juveniles under Section 302 of IPC at the New Ashok Nagar police station for allegedly beating to death a 15-year-old boy in the Mayur Vihar Phase III area on Wednesday evening, the cops are still waiting for the final post-mortem report to ascertain the exact cause of death.

On the other hand, locals of the area alleged that the tea-kiosk is one among many that sells contrabands like ganja openly. Locals also alleged that they complained to police when a woman was reportedly misbehaved with by a few delinquents. To this, the Delhi Police maintained that they have never received any complaint in this regard.

Enraged over the incident, the locals gathered in the market area and damaged the tea kiosk and later on Thursday evening, they set it ablaze.

One of the locals who wishes not to be named further alleged that the park close to a temple where Rajat was dragged to and beaten up by the juveniles is a hub where people gather and consume drugs. Moreover, with the non-functional lights in the park, the problem aggravates for women who have to cross the park in the evening.

According to the preliminary investigation into the mysterious death of 15-year-old Rajat, police are maintaining that Rajat died of cardiac arrest or shock received due to the fist fight.

According to the senior police officers, once Rajat collapsed due to unconsciousness, he was taken by the juveniles in a motorcycle to a private clinic where he was refused treatment and was then taken to Metro hospital where again the doctors refused treatment. It was finally when Rajat was taken to Lal Bahadur Shastri hospital that he was declared brought dead.

Priyanka Gautam, Mayur Vihar Phase III Councillor of East Delhi Municipal Corporation said: “These paan sellers have encroached the market land and are found to be indulging in illegal activities. For the past one year, the paan sellers have been creating a nuisance in the area. We want a proper investigation into the case of the 15-year-old child’s death.”
