Sales girl gang-raped by boyfriend, two associates

A 25-year- old woman was allegedly gang-raped by her live-in partner and two associates in Nathupur area, located at the posh DLF Phase-II area. The woman in her complaint to the police stated that she was raped by her boyfriend on the pretext of marriage. Despite being subjected to gang rape in June 2013, the victim did not file a complaint, as the boyfriend had promised to marry her.

The incident came to light on late Saturday night when the victim approached the DLF Phase-II police station and registered a complaint against her live in partner Prashad Pandey (prime accused and a native of Bihar) and his two associates, identified as Dwarika Prashad and Ajay Kanda, a lawyer in Gurgaon Civil Court.

The victim works in city -based prominent shopping mall as a sales girl. Police said that she was earlier lodged with Pandey from July, 2013, in Nathupur village. She was constantly raped by Pandey on the pretext of marriage. ‘She was also raped by his associates Kanda and Dwarika earlier but she did not complain to the police as Pandey persuaded her that they would get married’, said a senior police official.

The victim is currently lodged at a rented accommodation in Kahnai village. Pandey also fooled her by producing her fake marriage certificate and claimed that they were legally married. ‘During the investigation, we found that it was not a registered marriage certificate, which the victim had claimed. We have registered a case of gang rape and a team has been constituted to nab the accused persons, who are still on run’, said Nazneen Bhasin, DCP (East), Gurgaon.

Pandey had left for his village in Bihar two weeks ago and had maintained contact with the victim over phone. However, since the past few days, when the victim tried to contact him, she found that his phone was out of reach. The victim also tried to contact his associates, but to no avail. Her suspicions led her to register a case against the accused. ‘We are investigating the case from all different angles. As of now, no arrests have been made’, Bhasin added.
