SAIL chairman reviews Bhilai steel plant ops

SAIL Chairman PK Singh arrived on a visit to Bhilai steel plant to review progress of Modex Projects and performance of the Plant on Tuesday. Singh who is accompanied by Director (Technical) Raman was received at Raipur airport by Bhilai Steel Plant CEO, M Ravi, and other senior officers of SAIL.
After a brief halt at Bhilai Niwas where SAIL Chairman was given a guard of honour by jawans of the CISF, Singh headed straight for the Plant’s Modex Project sites.
SAIL Chairman witnessed rolling of 130 metre rails at the 1.2 MTPA Universal Rail Mill.
Singh also visited testing facilities and interacted with senior officers of the Plant and Project Dept as also officers manning operations at the URM. SAIL Chairman then visited the new facilities at the 2.8 MTPA Blast Furnace 8 project that is nearing completion. The heating of chimney for hot stoves of BF 8 was begun on October 25, 2016 and the furnace is now being readied for the process of lighting up of stoves.
Another fast-upcoming Modex Project that SAIL Chairman visited is the 0.9 MTPA Bar & Rod Mill where cold trials of equipment is in progress. Singh then reviewed progress of the upcoming Convertor and Continuous Casting facilities at the 4 MTPA Steel Melting Shop 3 Modex Project.
SAIL Chairman was accompanied by Director, Projects, G Vishwakarma, Director (Technical) Raman and CEO, BSP M Ravi.
Later during a lengthy interaction session with senior officers of the Plant and Projects Dept at a review meeting of plant performance and progress of Modex Projects in Ispat Bhavan Conference Hall, Singh reviewed production from the existing units of the plant and enthused the Bhilai collective to ramp up the same so as to ensure profitability.
SAIL Chairman provided valuable guidance for ongoing Modex projects and sought commitments from the plant’s projects team.
