The class III student of Gurgaon’s Ryan International School who was allegedly hit by a school van of another school after being dropped off by her own school bus, continues to be in coma and hospital sources said that she might take a week to come out of it.
“We will have to wait for a week to confirm her condition. However, at present she is in the Intensive Care Unit(ICU) of the hospital and is under constant observation,” said a hospital source. According to the team of doctors, Jiya, the class III student, was hit from behind and fell on the road, hitting her head first because of which she suffered swelling in the brain.
On Friday, four days after the incident took place on May 9 afternoon, parents of other students of the school protested in the principal’s office alleging negligence by Ryan International School. The parents of Jiya alleged that their daughter was hit by a car, after being dropped on the “wrong side of the road by the school bus”. Jiya’s parents have alleged that the school bus did not stop at the designated bus stop, where her mother was waiting, but dropped the child further ahead. Parents have also stated that the school bus flouted safety norms as there was no attendant present in the bus and also the driver was “inexperienced”.
