Russia plans event calendar to woo tourists

Russia will make public a national calendar of events in January 2013 to woo tourists, including those from abroad, an official said. ‘We have received very many applications from regions, from the Far East to the westernmost Kaliningrad region, to include various events, such as festivals, concerts, holidays and celebrations, into this calendar,’ Sergei Korneyev, director of the tourism and regional policy department of the Russian Ministry of Culture said. ‘By the end of December, the ministry plans to draft this calendar and its database will be available in January in all Internet sources. , we plan to discuss and amend it,’ Itar-Tass quoted Korneyev.
