Russia has said that it was ready to cooperate with the new Bangladesh government to be formed on Sunday while regretting the opposition boycott of the recently-held parliamentary polls.
‘Russia confirms that it is ready to continue constructive partnership with a government which will be formed soon,’ media reports said here quoting a Russian Foreign Ministry statement.
It also regretted that key opposition parties in Bangladesh boycotted the parliamentary elections.
‘We hope that the authorities and the opposition will not go beyond the Constitution in order to ensure stability and strengthen democratic institutions in the country,’ the statement read. The statement came as western nations criticised the polls, with the US questioning its legitimacy calling for fresh elections that will include all parties.
