Rupee ends higher by another 13p against $

The rupee ended higher by another 13 paise to 61.46 against the dollar on Thursday following persistent selling of dollars by banks and exporters on the back of weak dollar in overseas market. Sustained foreign capital inflows also boosted the rupee value against the dollar.

The rupee resumed higher at 61.57 per dollar as against the last closing level of 61.59 but dropped immediately to 61.70 on initial dollar demand from banks and importers.

It recovered later to 61.35 before ending at 61.46 per dollar on a  strong equity market, showing a gain of 13 paise (0.21 per cent) from its last close. It moved in a range of 61.35 and 61.70 per dollar during the day.
