Rs 80L robbed from relatives of rice trader

Four unidentified bike-borne men allegedly robbed two relatives of a rice trader of Rs 80 lakh while they were on their way to the trader’s shop near Shakur Basti flyover in West Delhi’s Punjabi Bagh area on Thursday. Investigating officer said that Aman and Shubham working for their uncle, Ved Prakash, a rice trader at Punjabi Bagh market are being questioned.

According to the police, the incident took place at around 11 am when Aman and Shubham, relatives of the rice trader, Ved Prakash were heading back from Kohat Enclave to Naya Market with the bag full of cash when their motorcycle was intercepted by four unidentified men on two bikes.  Police said that Aman and Shubham, in their twenties, work for Ved Prakash and were returning with the cash when the robbery took place.

Police said that as per the statement of the duo, the bike-borne men pointed a pistol at them and snatched the bag containing Rs 80 lakh and fled from the spot. Following which, Aman and Shubham informed their uncle who in turn reported the matter to the police.

According to the police, a case under relevant sections of the IPC has been registered at the Punjabi Bagh police station against unknown persons. Police are scanning through the CCTV footage of the area to establish the identity of the culprits as well to establish the exact sequence of events. Meanwhile, they are also questioning Aman and Shubham, said an investigating officer. Further investigation is underway.
