The students unions have voiced their protest against the Lyngdoh committee recommendations which restricts their spending on poll campaign to Rs 5,000. Student bodies find it ‘too little amount for election campaigning.’
‘How is it possible to do poll campaigning within the given amount? The DU campus is huge. We have to cover all colleges from north to south campus. The transportation alone cost more than Rs 5,000,’ said NSUI spokesperson. An unofficial estimates suggests that Rs 20-25 lakh are spent by individual candidates in order to woo students.
