Rs 1,260 cr sanctioned to upgrade ITBP posts along Sino-Indian border

This was announced by Minister of State for Home RPN Singh on the occasion of 52nd ITBP Raising Day parade in New Delhi.

Singh said that the construction activity will include building accommodations for ITBP jawans and efforts will also be made to meet energy requirements at 69 border outposts of the ITBP through eco-friendly measures. ‘The 69 border posts of ITBP would soon have three to 10 KVA solar power plants which will facilitate uninterrupted power supply,’ Singh said.

On the occasion of the Raising Day Parade, Singh conferred one Police Medal for gallantry, six President’s Police Medals for distinguished service and 15 Police Medals for meritorious service on the ITBP officials.

Besides, the 16th battalion was adjudged as best border battalion of the force while the 26th battalion was adjudged as best non-border battalion on the occasion. The event took place at Tigri Camp on Mehrauli-Badarpur Road on Thursday morning.

The ITBP was raised as a border guarding force in the wake of the 1962 Chinese aggression and the force has 56 battalions (56,000 personnel) at present.

Apart from border guarding duties, the force is also deployed to render a variety of internal security duties in the country, including conducting anti-Naxal operations in Chhattisgarh.
