Residents of Delhi’s Civil Lines have now got the area under round the clock CCTV surveillance. On Sunday, the neighbourhood watch scheme, under the Safe-City programme initiated by the residents of the locality, was inaugurated by the Commissioner of Delhi Police, BS Bassi, at Civil Lines in northern Delhi.
‘Funds sanctioned to us have never been enough to cover entire Delhi under CCTV surveillance.
‘It is good that residents of the city are now coming up with surveillance projects entirely funded by themselves. It shall be of great help to the police in combatting crime in Delhi,’ said BS Bassi.
He further said that by the end of 2015, Delhi will have 8,000 more CCTV cameras doing round the clock surveillance.
