Rohini family killed seven hours before bodies found

The three members of a family who were found murdered in their house in Rohini sector 17 on Friday were killed seven hours before their bodies  were discovered, revealed the post mortem report on Monday.

A panel of doctors who conducted the post-mortem at Babu Jagjivan Ram hospital (BJRM) has submitted the report that Y P S Chauhan, 55, and his wife Rekha, 50, had injuries on their head while their daughter Karishma, 22, was strangled to death. All three died between midnight and 1 am. There were signs of resistance as Karishma’s face bore injury marks, said a senior police officer. They were found dead around 7 am.

Meanwhile, police is still groping in the dark, as only a mobile phone was found missing from the house. The location of the mobile was traced to Samaipur Badli area of outer district. A man, who was using the phone, told police that he found it from the roadside in the area.

Police has questioned more than 200 people, including neighbours, relatives and Chauhan’s close associates, till now.

Chauhan, who hailed from Uttar Pradesh’s Etah district and ran a godown for chemicals in Shahbad Daulatpur in outer Delhi, was murdered in his two-storey house in B Block of Sector 17 in Rohini.

Chauhan was found lying with head injuries on the ground floor of the building, while Rekha and Karishma were found strangled on the first floor of the house.

Police has ruled out robbery as a motive behind the incident. after initial probe found that Chauhan’s mobile phone and Karishma’s laptop were the only two things missing from the house.

The deaths came to light when the daughter of a local priest went to the house and found the main gate open. Rekha was scheduled to catch a tourist bus to Vaishno Devi with the local priest Udaychand Jha and nine other women of the neighbourhood on Friday morning. The police official said the killer tried to remove evidence, as the rooms were cleaned to remove bloodstains.
