Road rage behind Ambedkar Nagar youth stabbing: Police

Two days after an 18-year-old youth was stabbed to death in southeast Delhi’s Ambedkar Nagar area, police have arrested Ashu Mulla (19) for the crime.

Police while ruling out any criminal conspiracy, also stated that it was an incident of road rage.

Ashu Mulla, who is a resident of same area, was arrested on Wednesday night. On Tuesday, Mulla was on his motorbike when his vehicle grazed Raju Pandey (victim) which led to an argument. ‘Mulla took out a knife and stabbed him (Pandey) several times and fled from the spot,’ a police officer said. The entire incident was recorded on the video clip shot by a passerby on his mobile phone. The clip showed the victim lying in a pool of blood while a police official was interrogating him instead of taking him to hospital.

When the PCR van reached the spot at around 6.55 pm, he was taken to the nearby hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. BS Bassi, commissioner of Delhi Police said an inquiry will be conducted into the alleged delay in police action. ‘If he is found guilty, relevant actions will be taken against him,’ he said. Meanwhile, Mulla was booked for murder.
