Road rage: Accused run away with victim’s wallet after beating him

In yet another incident of a road rage in Delhi, a 27-year-old businessman along with his father and uncle were thrashed and robbed by two unidentified men near Defence Colony flyover on Thursday evening.

The incident occured at around 6.45 pm, when Shikoh Haider, a resident of Railway Colony in Lajpat Nagar was heading towards Jorbagh with his father and uncle. According to the victim, the driver of a speeding Swift car was constantly honking from behind. In anger, Haider applied sudden brakes and in order to avert the collision, the driver of the Swift also applied immediate brakes. This annoyed the accused.

The accused then drove the car parallel to Haider’s car started abusing him. The verbal argument turned violent when the accused forced Haider to park the car in the middle of the road.

One of the accused started beating Haider and when his father and uncle came for help, they were also thrashed.

The accused persons then robbed Haider’s Wallet that was allegedly carrying cash worth Rs 15000. They also threatened him of dire consequences if he reported the matter to police.

‘We received a call from Haider at 7 pm. A team was immediately sent to the spot who rushed the trio to AIIMS Trauma Centre. All of them underwent treatment at the hospital and were discharged on Friday,’ a police official said.

Based on Haider’s statement and medical report, a case of road rage and robbery has been registered at Hazrat Nizamuddin police station.

‘We are examining the CCTV footages of the cameras installed in the locality to establish the identity of the accused who are still at large,’ a senior police official said.
