Road Rage: 22-year-old man shot at by bike-borne assailant in Narela

In yet another incident of a road rage, a 22-year-old man was shot at by a motorcycle-borne assailant in the national Capital on Sunday. The victim is battling for his life at the hospital while the accused is at large.

The incident took place on Sunday afternoon around 3.35 pm in outer Delhi’s Narela area. During the incident, the victim, identified as Anuj was going to buy some household stuff from the market. In the mid-way he parked his scooter at the roadside to attend a phone call.

According to the statement given by the victim, police said ‘a speeding motorcycle came from behind and rammed into his scooter. As a result, the tale lamp of his scooter was broken. He then shouted at him and instructed him to drive properly. The biker who continued to ride even after collision stopped after listening Anuj’s instruction.’ 

The accused then came back and had a verbal argument with Anuj. Within few minutes, the argument turned violent and the duo indulged in a scuffle. In the meantime, the accused pulled out a pistol from his pocket and shot at him. The locals ran away after the firing giving way to the accused to escape.

A call to the police control room was made by one of the eyewitnesses who have noted the registration number of the accused’s bike. The victim, who was lying on the road in a pool of blood, was immediately rushed to the nearby hospital from where he was referred to LNJP hospital.

According to the doctors, his condition is stated to be critical. ‘The bullet pierced Anuj’s right hand to lodge itself in his abdomen. Based on the number plate of the bike used in the crime, the accused has been identified as one Mukesh Kumar, a resident of Narela area’, the police officer said.

‘We have conducted a raid at his residence but he was not there. Meanwhile, a case has been registered at Narela police station,’ the officer said.  The victim lives with his family in Kandera Bankner Village in Narela and runs a grocery shop at the ground floor of his residence.
