‘Rly freight loading to grow 9-15% in 4 yrs’

Railways freight loading is likely to increase by 9-15 per cent in the next four years, Minister of Railways Suresh Prabhu said on Monday.
He said this after receiving a report of the Committee on Traffic Optimization from Committee’s head Mohd. Jamshed, Additional Member, Railway Board at a function held on Monday.
“It is heartening to know that the Committee on Traffic Optimisation has submitted its report within the stipulated timeframe. It is an amazing document prepared by the committee, comprising Railways’ officers,” the minister said. Minister of State for Railways Manoj Sinha and Chairman Railway Board AK Mital and Committee’s head, Mohd Jamshed were also present.
The minister said the committee has pointed out the potential of growth for Indian Railways and the roadmap suggested indicated that Indian Railways freight loading “has the potential to grow between 9 and 15 per cent during the next four years” against the growth of around 4 per cent recorded during the last four years.
Master plan for AP capital likely to be ready in June
The master plan for the capital of Andhra Pradesh, coming up in Vijaywada region, is likely to be ready by June. The Singapore government agencies, which are helping the AP government by preparing the master plan for free, on Monday made a presentation before Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who is on a visit to Singapore.
