Rivers interlinking can be achieved in 7-10 years: Uma

While presiding over the first meeting of the special committee for interlinking of rivers, minister of Water Resources Uma Bharti sought cooperation of various states. Referring to the apprehensions expressed by some environmentalists, the minister said the government will ensure that there is no loss to the environment.

Bharti said that this project is so dear to her that she can go and beg for assistance to any state, organisation or individual for the its success. The minister said the interlinking of rivers will be a milestone in the development of the nation. She said success of this project will prove that environment and development can go together.
