Riding for a good cause

An Indian Army Captain, CEO of an award-winning company and a fashion designer who happen to ride the hulky American bikes along with other HOGs have come together to raise funds for Uttarakhand.

Around 50 Harley riders from the city have pledged 14,000 kilometers. The campaign will culminate with an Independence Ride from Vasant Kunj to Noida Unitech on 15 August. The owners will raise Rs. 25 for every kilometre.  HOG rider, Captain Sanjay Bali, who was also a part of the Rescue Operation Team of Indian Army in Uttarakhand has pledged to ride for 2,000 km.

‘Each one of us needs to come forward to rebuild Uttarakhand. This is not a short sighted relief effort. This is the beginning towards our commitment of the Harley Owners Group,’ said Anil Arora, Assistant Director, Delhi Chapter, Harley Owners Group. He adds, ‘We often go out for joy rides and if these can bring a ray of hope in lives of the affected people, there is nothing better than that.’

‘It’s a great initiative by HOG in support of a noble cause and this is our bit for helping the affected,’ added Sameer Malhotra, Treasurer, Delhi Chapter, HOG.

HOG will be giving the funds raised to Corporate Disaster Resource Network, an initiative of the Aidmatrix Foundation. The foundation will distribute relief material, which includes water, food, and water purifying tablets, toiletries, and first aid supplies to help.
