Reviving the charm of folk music

Malini Awasthi is one of the <g data-gr-id="30">face</g> of folk music in India. Not surprisingly, she is credited in bringing back these traditional forms of music to the national stage. Malini is highly acclaimed for her <g data-gr-id="28">gaayiki</g> and her powerful performances. 

In a recent show titled Doli Saja Ke held at Kamani Auditorium, Awasthi enthralled the audience with her soulful voice by singing several wedding songs from Awadh, Banaras and other regions covering all most all the rituals of a traditional Indian wedding. 

An ensemble of actors presented live wedding scenes with Malini Awasthi singing traditional wedding song <g data-gr-id="23">apt</g> for that particular sequence. A group of live musicians created the musical magic along.  

The gathering of over 600 people attended this performance of Malini Awasthi. The attendees appreciated and applauded the performance and also the efforts of Sonchirayia.

Mahesh Sharma, Minister of Tourism, culture and Civil Aviation (GOI) was the Chief Guest on this occasion. Sharma applauded the endeavors in reviving the folk traditions of the country. Malini has a high pitch voice and is popular for <g data-gr-id="43">rendition</g> of <g data-gr-id="27">thumari</g>, <g data-gr-id="41">Thaare</g> Raho <g data-gr-id="33">Baanke</g> Shyam. She recently <g data-gr-id="25">sung</g> the song Sundar Susheel in the Bollywood movie Dum Laga Ke <g data-gr-id="34">Haisha</g> (2015), which is highly popular and a big hit.
