Retired CPWD engineer, daughter-in-law killed

In a shocking incident, a 91-year-old man along with his 65-year-old daughter-in-law were found dead inside their residence in Central Delhi’s East Patel Nagar area on Sunday evening. The accused are yet to be identified.
The incident came to light at around 6 <g data-gr-id="40">pm</g> when Sudhir (67) returned home. He found that the doors were locked from inside. Sudhir went to his sister’s house that was nearby, to take duplicate keys of the house. He returned home after half an hour and opened the doors. When he went inside the bedroom, he found his wife, identified as Shashi Katariya, lying in a pool of blood on the bed. Later he spotted his father <g data-gr-id="38">lying</g> on the floor in the same condition.
Sudhir immediately made a call to the police control room and a team immediately rushed to the spot. “The house was not ransacked and the preliminary circumstantial <g data-gr-id="41">evidences</g> suggest friendly entry in the house,” a police official privy to the investigation said. The deceased--Sewa Ram (91) had retired as senior CPWD officer. He stayed at the ground floor in house number 39 with his son Sudhir and daughter in law Sashi. Sudhir too had retired from a government job recently.
It was learnt that Sudhir left <g data-gr-id="37">house</g> at around 2 <g data-gr-id="34">pm</g> for some work and returned at 6 <g data-gr-id="35">pm</g>. Call details of all the three family members are being looked into and the CCTV cameras installed near the locality are also being scanned. In the prima <g data-gr-id="32">facie</g> it seems that someone known is behind the double murder. Police have not ruled out property angle behind the brutal murder.
The weapon used in the crime scene has not been recovered as yet. Meanwhile, a case under the relevant Sections of the Indian Penal Code have been registered at Patel Nagar police station.
