Reputation of Uttarakhand has been tarnished: BJP

‘The reputation of Uttarakhand has been tarnished as the name of minister of cabinet rank has been booked in the molestation case in Delhi police station and several print media and electronic media at national levels has published/telecast this report as prime news. From moral grounds, the booked minister (Harak Singh Rawat) should resign immediately from ministerial post till he gets clean-chit from the legal proceedings and prove himself innocent. It’s not possible for police to conduct fair and flawless inquiry against a political person who is holding power in the ruling government. In a democratic set-up, the enquiry should be fair and unbiased.’

Leader of Opposition in Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly Ajay Bhatt told media-persons gathered at BJP head office here on Wednesday. He added that it is unfortunate that the state CM Harish Rawat showed ignorance to this episode. The ruling government has vast network of intelligence unit working at different levels, then why he was unaware of all these events.

He further added that he has no personal enmity with Harak Singh Rawat, but he should prove himself innocence in all these charges levelled against him in the Delhi police station, if he has not done anything wrong.

He attacked ruling Congress government by saying that 26 days have elapsed, still no portfolio has been allotted to the cabinet minister. He attacked CM Rawat by saying that the state is witnessing the one-man show since 1 February, and consequently all the development works has been halted. He is regularly visiting far-flung areas like Rudraprayag, Tharali, Pithoragarh and Dharchula to prove that everything is well, but in ground reality, nothing has improved. This is nothing, but political stunt. This is all image-building exercise by Congress leaders.
