‘Reports of WB police not cooperating false’

The ministry of home affairs (MHA) issued a press statement and clarified that the news in a section of media highlighting non cooperation of West Bengal police and CID is false and baseless.

‘NIA will like to deny reports appearing in certain section of media that the West Bengal Police and CID have not been cooperating in the ongoing investigation,’ the NIA said in a press statement.

NIA took over the case on 9 October, after being instructed by MHA, in the midst of allegations that the state police was destroying evidence to cover up the matter, where the involvement of Bangladesh-based Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen’s was found.

Six people including two women have been arrested so far in this connection. Meanwhile, the NIA during the day conducted searches at various places including the rented residence of killed militant Shakil Ahmed in Beldanga in Murshidabad district.
