Religious body slam Ahmed Patel over Karbala dispute

On Tuesday, Maulana Kalbe Jawad, general secretary, Majlis Ulema-e-Hind held a press conference at Anjuman-e-Haidri (AeH) over the Karbala issue, which sparked religious tensions in the national capital on Monday. The conference focused on allegations of illegal grabbing of Waqf Land, under the patronage of Ahmed Patel, in Karbala.
‘Ahmed Patel and the Congress party is making Delhi police dance to their tune over Karbala land dispute. On Monday, we had planned to carry out a peaceful protest at Jor Bagh but the Delhi police instructed metro officials to shut down the nearby metro stations’, said the general secretary.
Senior police officials have however denied these allegations. A police official, added, ‘it was our duty to discourage the entry of around 200 protesters coming from UP to carry out protests in Delhi. We have to maintain law and order situation’, the official said.
