After receiving complaints from parents alleging that schools are not refunding admission fees after a student has been withdrawn from school, Directorate of Education (DoE) has issued an order that the entire amount except for the registration fee shall be refunded by unaided private recognised schools.
The order issued on Wednesday, said: “Any fee collected from the parent(s)/guardian(s) of a child, whose admission is cancelled subsequently due to non-submission of original documents by the due date, or any information or document submitted at the time of registration being proved to be wrong or false, the entire fee except registration fee shall be refunded.”
It further said: “If any parent or guardian, after depositing full fees for the admission of a child, chooses to withdraw the child from school within one month from the date of admission, the school shall retain the registration charges, admission fee and the tuition fee for one month only and shall refund all other amounts or additional charges within 15 days of the request made by the parent(s), or guardian(s) to the school under proper receipt.”
The order came as a result of the complaints made by parents that were made public by the Delhi government department. “I had my daughter admitted to SBDAV to block a seat. When I enquired about the refund policy, I was told that only the security deposit worth Rs 500 was refundable, all else will be forfeited,” complainant Nangia said on Tuesday.
