Record number apply for FYUP, last year’s figure surpassed

The rush for admission to the Four Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP) has surpassed all expectations with Delhi University printing a fresh lot of 30,000 forms on Thursday. According to the figure released at the end of the 3rd day of admission, more than 1,34,000 candidates had already applied for admission to FYUP courses. When compared with the rush last year, 1,47,000 candidates applied in total. There are 12 days still to go for registration.

‘This huge rush of students should put to rest all controversies about FYUP as candidates are applying in huge numbers breaking last year records,’ said PK Khurna, Principal of Shaheed Bhagat Singh College, who is a part of the Academic Council which approved FYUP programme. 

According to the data released by Dean Students’ Welfare, on the third day, 16,376 forms were sold for General and OBC category, on the other hand 3,599 forms were sold for Physically handicapped and SC/ST category. JM Khurana, Dean of Students’ Welfare, said: ‘A total of 90,412 forms were sold till Friday and still there are more than ten days to go.
