RCom undersea cable arm links system with global network

Reliance Communications undersea cable arm Reliance Globalcom has integrated its Hawk Cable System with its global network in a move that adds capacity and will benefit customers in India, West Asia , Europe and the USA.

‘We are delighted with the seamless integration of the Hawk submarine cable system with Reliance Global Network... Our existing customer base of over 37,000 corporates in India and over 1,400 corporates in Europe and USA, along with over 200 carrier customers will benefit from this lowest latency network,’ said Reliance Globalcom President & CEO Punit Garg on Thursday.

The undersea cable system is a vital link to facilitate internet and other telecom services across countries. With this, the company has interconnected all its under-sea cable system which enhances ‘the capability of carrying 5 million HD quality interactive video channels simultaneously.’

The Hawk Cable System was earlier providing connectivity between Yeroskipos, Cyprus, and Marseille, France. India was connected to it through the Flag cable system of company network. Reliance Globalcom has now connected the Hawk cable system with its global network through Alexandria, Egypt.

The Reliance Globalcom Network connects India using the FEA cable system (Mumbai to London) and Falcon system (Mumbai to Suez, Egypt). Through the integration with Falcon cable system in the Suez, the Hawk extends that connectivity to Europe.

Hawk cable system was built by Reliance Globalcom last fiscal to initially set up Mediterranean Gateway and Hub at Cyprus.
