Rajnath discusses peace in Valley with Sonia, Omar

The Home Minister discussed with them efforts to bring back peace and normalcy in the Valley, which has been witnessing violent protests, after the killing of militant Burhan Wani on Friday, official sources said.

Singh’s discussions with Gandhi and Abdullah are believed to be an attempt by the Centre to take the opposition leaders into confidence.

The Home Minister is in direct contact with J&K Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and taking stock of the situation in the Valley. He has assured her of all central assistance to tackle the violent protests, which has so far claimed 23 lives.

Meanwhile, he reviewed the Kashmir situation for the second time in as many days and instructed officials to do the needful to bring back normalcy in the state.
