Rajesh Kalra was robbed of Rs 2 cr in 2013

What makes the story even more interesting is that the same criminals were allegedly involved in both the instances.

After Kalra lodged an FIR regarding Tuesday’s robbery, he also told the investigators about the 2013 robbery. His revelation had hinted at insider’s involvement in the crime after which Kalra’s driver and domestic help were detained. ‘During remand, the juvenile domestic help confessed his involvement in the crime and disclosed the identity of his associates,’ a source said.

According to sources, ‘The criminals were planning the Lajpat Nagar robbery since the last 3-4 months when the juvenile domestic help gave a tip-off about Kalra’s hawala money to Shiv Shakti Naidu, the kingpin a resident of Madangiri. Naidu and another accused, Ajay, asked the domestic help to share more information about Kalra’s movement. On 24 January, the assailants did a recce and on Tuesday they arrived on the spot at 8 am.’

Naidu was also arrested in 2004 in connection with the Saket road robbery in which he snatched Rs 4.5 lakh from a biker. Ajay too reportedly has a criminal background and was an auto lifter. ‘Naidu’s remained quiet after his release for some time but in 2013 he executed a robbery in Vikaspuri and the victim was Rajesh Kalra. Kalra was on his way to deposit Rs 2 crore in the bank and midway he was robbed by Naidu and Pradeep, a criminal in outer Delhi who is Naidu’s friend. The tip-off and the inside information was shared by the same juvenile domestic help who is a distant relative of Naidu,’ a police official close to investigation told Millennium Post. An official added, Naidu, Ajay and Pradeep are at large.

In 2013, Kalra did not inform the police as the robbed cash was hawala money.
