Rajasthan govt announces assistance for raped orphans

Rajasthan government has announced a financial assistance of Rs 3 lakh to the two differently abled orphan girls who were allegedly raped and beaten by the employees of a residential school run by an NGO here.

The decision was taken in a review meeting chaired by the chief secretary C K Mathew last night.

Mathew told reporters here that the financial aid would be provided from the Chief Ministers Relief Fund to the girls who were raped by the NGO workers.

Police officers have also been directed to submit the charge sheet in court within 15 days so as to ensure speedy justice for the victims, he added.

Five deaf and mute orphan girls were reported to have been allegedly raped and beaten by staff at a residential school run by an NGO in Kanota area. Rape on only two girls has been confirmed till now.

Chief minister Ashok Gehlot, who is on tour to Udaipur, has condemned the incident and issued directions for taking stern action against those responsible for the incident, Mathew said.
