Rain lashes few places in Punjab, Haryana

Ending the prolonged dry spell, rains on Sunday lashed few places in Punjab and neighbouring Haryana, the two leading agrarian states which are facing around 40 per cent deficit monsoon rains each this year. 

Chandigarh, the common capital of the two states, was lashed by rains since this morning, causing mercury to dip by a few notches, according to the MeT department here. At many places in Punjab and Haryana, rains brought relief to the people from sultry weather conditions.
