Rai urges Gadkari to extend e-rickshaw registration till Dec

“Gadkari was very positive on the issue,” said Rai after meeting the Union Transport Minister at Transport Bhawan. The registration of e-rickshaws was stopped in Delhi after May this year.

Rai also urged Gadkari to give the right of retrofitting to multiple firms rather than a single one, issuing the No Objection Certificate (NOC) for registration. Rai said that this will break the monopoly and will also make the process of registration fast. Rai also raised the issue of East and West Corridor and urged to expedite the project.

“It will not only <g data-gr-id="19">de-congest</g> traffic in the national Capital but will also help lessen the pollution levels in the city; the Union Minister replied with <g data-gr-id="22">affirmation</g> on this demand too,” said Rai.

Gadkari was also urged to put up Weigh in Motion systems at all the entry points of Delhi to check the entry of overloaded vehicles in the national Capital. Rai also said that as soon as the Central government issues a notification for the extension of e-rickshaw registration, the transport department of Delhi will launch a special drive for registration in the Capital.
