Rahul’s diktat ignored, HS Balli gets Cong ticket from Hari Nagar

Interestingly, Balli was denied ticket by the BJP because the Hari Nagar seat was left for the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) which pitched for Shyam Sharma as its candidate.

Sources said that former Delhi Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee president Paramjit Singh Sarna and some Delhi government ministers had asked Balli to join the Congress.

When asked about the development, chief minister Sheila Dikshit refused to confirm the news saying: ‘When HS Balli is given a ticket a formal announcement will be made.’

Congress has also decided to field Damyanti Chandela, wife of sitting MLA Dayanand Chandela, who is facing criminal charges, from Rajouri Garden. Ex-DUSU president Ragini Nayak is likely to get a ticket from Janak Puri seat.

The Congress party on Monday declared the names of candidates for 56 constituencies and of the remaining 14 seats would be declared within a few days.  Cricketer Virender Sehwag’s sister Anju is expected to get a ticket from Najafgarh constituency.

The remaining seats are Palam, Sangam Vihar, Tughlaqabad , Trilokpuri, Karawal Nagar Burari
and Rohini.

From Trilokpuri, former three-times Congress MLAs Brahm Pal is likely to get a ticket, while senior Congress leader Sajjan Kumar’s son Jag Pravesh Kumar is expected to get ticket from Sangam Vihar. Similarly, former MLA Jile Singh Chauhan could get ticket from Burari.
