Rahul will become old but can’t form government in MP: Chouhan

Barely two days ahead of Rahul Gandhi's visit to Indore, Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday challenged Congress leaders saying that they will become old if Singh retains his power in the state.

‘Congress is worried that if I become CM this time around, all their leaders will become old before they can even dream of winning in Madhya Pradesh,’ said Chouhan without taking names of Congress' young leaders such as Rahul Gandhi and Jyotiraditya Scindia.

Chouhan's comment apparently was directed at the young Gandhi family scion who has vowed to form a government of young people in the state. Rahul recently has hinted that Jyotiraditya Scindia is likely to become the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh if Congress comes to power winning this assembly election. The Congress vice-president is scheduled to kick-start the party's campaign for the upcoming Madhya Pradesh assembly polls in the Malwa Nimar area from Thursday, by addressing a ‘Satta Parivartan' rally. Madhya Pradesh Congress spokesman Narendra Saluja was quoted as saying, ‘The Congress vice-president will address the Satta Parivartan rally here at the Dusshera Maidan and appeal to voters to uproot BJP from power in Madhya Pradesh.’

The assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh will be held in one phase on 25 November and the results will be declared on 8 December. The ruling BJP government-led by Chouhan believes to retain its power in the state.
