AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi will play a ‘prominent and decisive role’ during Congress brainstorming session Chintan Shivir, to be held in Jaipur between 18 and 20 January. An indication to this effect came with union minister Manish Tewari on Sunday saying the party looked forward to Gandhi to lead them in 2014 Lok Sabha polls. ‘He is our leader and we look forward to him leading us into the battle in 2014,’ said Tewari.
‘The Chintan Shivir will see Rahul come of age, play an important role as he has insisted on the active participation of youth Congress leaders during the conclave,’ said a source in the party. This is the Congress gathering at such a huge scale before the 2014 general elections.
‘This meeting will formalise strategy for 2014 elections. Rahul has insisted on inducting new and young faces in strategy formulation. Rahul will emerge as a guiding force and also a key player in this shivir,’ the source added.
The first two days of the conclave will have the brain storming session which will focus on issues like pre and post-poll alliances and women’s empowerment besides political and economic challenges. On the last day, a meeting of AICC delegates have been scheduled where resolutions based on the outcome of the discussions at the shivir could be taken up for approval.
