After the dismissal result in Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, and Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi promising changes in the state leadership within three months, an overhaul in the Youth Congress in already underway. Rahul Gandhi who is himself in charge of Youth Congress has started conducting interviews for the new president of the organisation.

It is learnt that Rahul Gandhi has been meeting National Office Bearers and also the state presidents of the Youth Congress to look out for its new president. Rajiv Satav the current president's term ended in February this year. He was appointed as the president in 2010. While party members say that the tenure of the president is of two years and Satav has completed his tenure, however, the earlier president of Youth Congress Ashok Tanwar had a five year stint as the president of the youth wing of the party.

It is not only the president of the Youth Congress where the party is on a look out for a new face. About four general secretaries have also expressed their desire to be relived from their positions. These changes are seen in the light after the Congress Party faired poorly in the recent assembly elections of the five states and in particular Uttar Pradesh, where Rahul Gandhi himself campaigned extensively and held over and held over 200 meetings all over the state. The party had managed mere 28 seats in the 403 Uttar Pradesh assembly.

During his campaign in the state, Rahul Gandhi had in particular praised the Youth Congress for their role in exposing the National Rural Health Mission scam, in which six lives have been claimed till now including the murder of two CMO's. The scam had its political outfall, with former minister and close aide of Mayawati was Babu Singh Kushwaha being expelled from the party.
