Amidst the high political drama taking place around the issue of corruption in Delhi, the Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday. Although party sources dubbed this as a 'routine meeting', the shadow of the expected cabinet rejig could be detected around it. Highly placed sources say that during this meeting Singh again urged Gandhi to join the union cabinet. Gandhi rejected the suggestion for the time being and said that he would meet the prime minister again with a final decision on the offer.
Before meeting Singh, Gandhi also met the Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy. In the evening, Reddy met the Congress president Sonia Gandhi and discussed the contentious Telangana issue. Sources say that she assured him that the party would take a decision on this matter in the coming few days.
Rahul's meeting with Singh at his office comes a day after Sonia and Manmohan Singh met President Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday.
