The Congress Monday said party general secretary Rahul Gandhi was 'number two' after party president Sonia Gandhi but did not comment on his probable re-designation.
'He is number two... work is going on,' party spokesperson Renuka Chowdhury told reporters here at a press conference.
There has been speculation that Rahul Gandhi will assume a bigger role in the party over the next few days and get a new designation such as vice-president. A reshuffle in the All India Congress Committee could take place before Diwali 13 November.
