A day after his mother Sonia Gandhi targeted BJP over corruption, Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi targeted the saffron party and made veiled attack against Nitin Gadkari saying they have not acted against it leaders involved in corruption.
‘No one can doubt our commitment over corruption and we have dealt with corruption with strong hands. Did they (BJP) take any action against the leader involved in corruption?’ said Rahul Gandhi while addressing a gathering at Bilaspur. He said that it was Congress whose ministers have landed in jails following corruption charges.
BJP national president Nitin Gadkari has been alleged in adoption malpractices to resurrect his business empire and recently income tax department has raided several offices of his company and business establishment.
With election campaign reaching its last leg, Gandhi almost made a repeat of his mother’s speech and said that Congress was credited for Right to Information (RTI) and even tabled Lokayukta Bill in the Lok Sabha but it was obstructed in the Rajya Sabha by the BJP.
Gandhi also strongly advocated for FDI in multi-brand retail, said ‘this FDI policy will change the future of the country and would benefit the farmers in hilly states like Himachal Pradesh enormously.’ He said that infrastructure chain from farm to stores and to consumers will be strengthened with more cold storages.
‘Farmers will get more returns for their produce,’ said Gandhi adding that it was Congress which thought of farmers and the common man but BJP still opposed the new policy which could benefit them enormously.
‘BJP is opposed to everything what the Congress do. They never think of common man of the country and the farmers and they indulge in divisive politics,’ alleged Gandhi. He also urged the youth and the women to come and join politics and shoulder the responsibility to run the country.
‘Future is in the hand of young generation and they should come forward in politics to take more responsibility,’ said Gandhi amid thunderous applause from Youth Congress and NSUI workers who have gathered in large number to listen to Gandhi scion.
